Abraham’s second wife Katura. Genesis 25:1

KATURA THE SECOND OF OF ABRAHAM

Abraham took another wife, whose name was Katura. Genesis 25: 1.

The Scriptures give little information about Abraham’s second marriage. After Rebekah’s death, he married a woman named Katura and had six children. Because Scripture places more importance on God’s plan of salvation. Although some information is available from other articles, the truth about that information cannot be authentic. Some Jewish scholars claim Katura was not another woman but Hagar. According to the Jewish commentator Rashi, she called “Katura” because her demeanour was as pleasing as the fragrance of the temple. She remained faithful to Abraham. She had not had intercourse with any man for fifty years. After Sarah died, Isaac brought her back to Abraham. But the Scriptures do not say so, and many scholars oppose it. According to them, she was a completely different woman and nothing was there about her in the scriptures. But scholars believe she was of Cush descent. Numbers 12: 1. some believe that she was Abraham’s servant after left Hagar.

Some believe that he doesn’t marry, but Katura was his concubine. 1 Corinth 1:32, genesis 25:6. however, Katura had not got equal status as Sarah. scripture described Sarah as the spiritual mother of all believers but there is no place to Katura.1 Peter 3: 6. Some scholars do not agree that if he got married at 140, he would have six more children. But many commentators believe she was a servant born in the house of Abraham. After Sarah’s death, he married her and they had six children. Abraham had six children when he was one hundred and forty years old. He lived one hundred and seventy-five years. During his journey of a hundred years with God, God protected him, gave him success, increased his honour, gave him Isaac, the son of promise, gave him Ishmael, and blessed him for his sake. He gave her daughter-in-law according to his wishes. And finally, Katura and six sons. He became a good old man. After living here on earth, he went to God for eternal happiness. God truly blessed him. Genesis 12: 1-3. Abraham faced many difficulties, faced many hardships, traversed valleys of sorrow and despair. Yet Abraham’s life journey seems blessed and moving from bliss to bliss.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I thank you for sharing in Abraham’s blessings with us. Help me live a life of faith. In the name of Jesus, listen. Amen.
