PATH OF BLESSING
The man bowed his head and worshipped Jehovah. Genesis 24:26.
Introduction: Abraham sent his servant Eliezer from thousands of miles away to find a daughter for his son Isaac. It was not a simple task for Eliezer to go to an unfamiliar country and to a stranger and find a girl for his master’s son. However, trusting in Jehovah God, the man succeeded in his journey and finally reached the city of Nahor in Aram-Nehraim. Nahor was a relative of Abraham.
He put his camels near the well outside the city to draw water for them. Now the only thought running through his head was how to find the right girl for Isaac? He sought God’s help in this difficult situation. When he saw the young women of the city coming to draw water from the well, he prayed to God, “O Lord my God, the Lord of Abraham, I beseech thee, do this for me, and have mercy on my lord Abraham. Behold, I stand by the spring of water.” the village, people’s Daughters are coming out to fetch water. So let it be, that the girl whom I shall ask of water, she should say drink and I will water your camels too. let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Issac. From this, I will know that you have been gracious to my Lord. ” Genesis 24: 10-14.
It happened just as Eliezer had prayed. Rebekah watered him and her ten camels. Eliezer was staring at her in amazement. He convinced Jehovah had made his journey a success. He gave her earrings and gold bracelets and asked Rebekah whose daughter she was. When Eliezer understood she was the daughter of Abraham’s cousin, he must have remembered Abraham’s words that the God of heaven who brought me from my father’s house my birthplace who spoke to me and swore to me I would give this land to your children He will send his angel before you, and from there you will bring a bride for my son. So it filled his heart with gratitude, and he bowed his head down to thank the heavenly God. There was nothing that could stop him from expressing his feelings toward Jehovah. This is real worship, which was expressed from the heart. This requires a heart full of gratitude.
Humble Behavior Before God: Eliezer humbly entrusted his problems to God. He prayed for mercy on his master. Please, don’t show your righteousness to God. Remember the example of the Lord Jesus’ prayer of the tax collector and the Pharisees, where he condemned the exaltation of righteousness. The Lord Jesus Christ says, “Once a Pharisee and a tax collector went up into the temple to pray. The Pharisee stood up and prayed in his heart, ‘I am not like other men who are sinners, transgressors, adulterers, or like this tax collector.’ So I thank you, I fast twice a week, I give tithes of all that I get, the tax collector, standing at a distance, without even looking up to heaven, slapped on the chest and said, ‘O God, have mercy on me, a sinful man. He went down to his house with no-fault, for whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted, “Luke 18: 9-14. So if you want God’s help, be humble before him.
The revelation of Faith: Eliezer’s prayer reveals faith. He believes God can do what according to his wants. It is as practical to ask for help from a man who is visible as it is to ask for help from an invisible God. Eliezer’s prayer had clarity. He made clear to him what God should do for him. He said God, do this for me to identify the girl you have chosen for Issac. ” We too must make our needs clear to God that what we need from him exactly. It expresses our faith in him.
PRAYER: O Lord Jesus, You have done me an infinite favour. My heart is full of gratitude to You. Listen, as I ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.
