Introduction:
Theologians say this is a psalm of harvest. Israelites are having three harvest festivals. First is the Passover harvest festival, which is a bare session in March and April. The second is the Pentecost festival; it is a wheat session in May and June. And third, is a tabernacle festival. It is a grape session. in September and October. This psalm has the expression of rejoicing, praising, and thanksgiving for having such a wonderful God, and plenty of harvests. Psalmist depicts that all men of earth will come to God. Let us see why the psalmist is depicting this way!
All need forgiveness of sin:
Sin is the foremost cause of human suffering. Sin brings curses to all aspects of human life. Therefore, everyone on this earth needs forgiveness from sin to get a blessed life. The result of forgiveness brings us near to God. The Psalmist says, “When we were overwhelmed by sin, you forgave our transgressions. Blessed are those who you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple.” Ps 65:3-4. no one can have such kinds of blessings with a sinful life. God says, “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor is his ear too dull to hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you so that he will not hear. Isaiah 59:1-2.
All need the protection of God:
The real protection comes from God only. Psalmist depicts, ‘O God our saviour, you are the hope of all people of ends of the earth and of the farthest of seas”. Ps 65:5. word of God says, “He will not let your foot slip. He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will nighter slumber or sleep. God watches over you. The Lord is your shade in your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm. He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” Psalm 121: 3-8.
All need the prosperity of God:
Real prosperity comes from God. The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it. Proverbs: 10:22. Psalmist says, “You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it. You drench its furrows and level its ridges; you soften it with showers and bless its crops. God, you crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance. The grasslands of the desert overflow; the hills are clothed with gladness. The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing.” Ps 65:-9-13.
Conclusion:
God is rich. He is the King of kings, Lord of lords, Sovereign, Eternal Lord. He loves all human beings. He does not discriminate. He promises all humankind that whoever believes in him will not be put to shame, for there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles, for he is the Lord of them all. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” [For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him. For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Rom: 10: 11-13. So anyone can go to the Lord Jesus without hesitation. He hears everyone’s prayers. Today, people of all races, religions, ethnicities, languages, and backgrounds follow the Lord Jesus. How true is the word of God that came out of David’s mouth today, thousands of years later?
